3 Top Tips for Being a Great Landlord

Landlords have lots of responsibilities, but keeping your tenants safe and comfortable should always be your number one priority. After all, keeping your tenants happy makes it much easier for you to avoid issues such as late rent payments. Stay organised

Staying organised is the golden rule of being a great landlord! Your tenants will rely on you to take care of maintenance requests, rent payments and much more, and if you’re highly disorganised, it will be difficult to offer them the best possible service. Not replying to their requests or failing to show up to meetings on time will only damage your tenant-landlord relationship, so make sure to stay organised.

Be flexible

For your tenants, the properties you rent out are home. With this in mind, you should aim to be flexible wherever possible. Of course, you don’t want to let your tenants take over the decoration or damage your property, but respecting their wishes – where possible – will go a long way in establishing a great relationship.

Follow the tenancy agreement

Tenancy contracts exist for a reason. If you break the rules of your tenancy agreement, your tenants are likely to get frustrated. Breaking the rules of the agreement might even encourage them to take legal action against you, which you want to avoid at all costs. Treat your tenants with respect and follow the rules agreed upon; this will also encourage them to do the same!
